Is the Lord Jesus Christ winning football games for Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos?

It sure seems that way. 7-1 is Tebow’s record as a starter. Almost all were comeback wins in the 4th quarter. The most recent game vs. the Chicago Bears really surprised me. I told my wife, “I guess it’s over. The Broncos won’t win this one.” Boy, was I ever wrong!

What is funny to me is to watch the commentators after these comebacks which are called incredible and against all odds. The comebacks are inexplicable and the commentators are saying such things as I don’t have any explanation for why this happened. They will give the credit to Tebow’s incredible will to win and to him personally BUT believers know Who really is willing these games to victory: the Lord Jesus Christ.

“You are crazy, Mark. God doesn’t care about football,” you say (Tebow has said it, too).

To which I respond, “God cares about one thing most of all: His own glory and He is receiving it through an ordinary guy named Tim Tebow who defies logic and deflects those who give him glory to the Lord, his Bronco teammates, and his Bronco coaches. If a sovereign God wants to win a football game for His own glory, He can and will do so.” God can do all things and is all powerful so why not win a football game or two or three or seven?

Tebow is a humble man whom the Lord is using. Why? Because God gets the glory!

I love it! NFL football games determined by a sovereign God Who loves confounding the “wisdom of this world” with simple, foolish things and people like Tim Tebow, a humble young man who I pray remains humble and mindful that the Lord is to receive all glory. My Lord and Savior is very capable of winning football games IF and WHEN He wants to. He has no equal and all power and glory forever. Amen.

One Response to Is the Lord Jesus Christ winning football games for Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos?

  1. Glenn Koehler says:

I Just love this because I see “A humble man…A sovereign God…” both of which have a targeted performance. One wants to win the game, the other wants to win hearts. Both “defies logic” while one deflects glory and the other demands it. What an excellent example of a battlefield win that God has been doing for so many years. As one King trusts in God and the other does not, the trusting King defies all odds and wins the battle. We see this type of Glory over and over in the Bible. We have an EVER LASTING God, and a NEVER CHANGING God, what an awesome history in the making! Thank you for sharing!
