Unbelief of the Believers: Enemy #1

Hebrews 3 & 4 is an insightful passage that warns BELIEVERS about UNbelief which I believe is enemy #1 to the Christian. Our unbelief hinders our ability to serve God. Look at these verses excerpted from chapter 3 of Hebrews below:

v.12-13 Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. 13 But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

v.19: So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.

Are you at rest? Really at rest? We know that Christians do NOT earn their salvation. And even after salvation, Christians are tempted not to trust in Christ alone and to trust in themselves, their ideas, and their works. It is easy to live in the flesh rather than to yield to the indwelling of the Holy Spirit (I Tim. 1:14). Easy.

So, are you trusting in Christ? Are you entering into His rest?

That doesn’t mean you get lazy! Never! But it simply means that your strength and your mission and works are led by Him and His Spirit not by your own sinful fears, worries, anxieties, cares, concerns, or preferences that originate in your flesh.

Unbelief in the hearts of Christians will lead them to fall away from the living God every time!

-Mark (grateful for the Sabbath rest and the admonition from God to trust Him alone in that rest)
